John Ledbetter, 89, of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012. He was the son of Raymond and Dorothea (Herd) Ledbetter of Lutie, MO. John was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Pauline Wallace, and Lourine Upton. John was dearly loved by Neva (Griffin), his wife of 66 years; beloved son Larry (wife Susan); grandson Matthew Ledbetter of Denver; granddaughter Emily Stagg (husband Bryan); great grandsons Flyn Ledbetter of Denver and Eli Stagg; great granddaughter Avery Stagg. John lived most of his life in Shawnee Mission, KS. He and Neva relocated to Springfield, MO, the last four years of his life to be near family. He retired from a long career at General Motors and took up the hobby of golfing, of which he never tired. He was a charter member of Montgall General Baptist Church of KCMO. In his later years he was a member of Colonial Presbyterian Church. God’s faithful loving kindness saw John through many health crises. John exhibited strength and Godly character through it all. He dearly loved his family all of whom will forever cherish precious memories of him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 20, 2012, with visitation prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Burial will be at Lutie Cemetery in Theodosia, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
