Gene Keen

U.S. Veteran

Gene "Doc" Keen, born March 15, 1917 in Phoenix MO, son of Harve and Annie (Brady) Keen, went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2012.

Gene graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1935. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II aboard the USS Tampa on convoy duty in the North Atlantic. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1974. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, life member of VFW, life member of DAV (Disabled American Veterans), life member of NARFE, member of the "Young at Heart" singing group in North View Senior Center and a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Virginia; son, Bobby Gene and daughter, Vicki Lea. He is survived by many loving friends and family.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 17th from 6:00-8:00 PM in Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Military honors will be held Wednesday, July 18th in the Ash Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Carmel Methodist Church.
